Calling Volunteers for School in Kenya

Submitted by Sandy Seppala on Fri, 2007-12-14 01:38.
Dan Polk, Founder/Director of the Daraja Academy of Kenya (www.daraja-academy.org), is developing a volunteer program while in California. The school is near Nanyuki, and was formerly the school shown in the film "The Boys of Baraka."

He writes: “our school has 13 guest houses on roughly 120 acres. I am still making my summer plans, so I don't know exactly when I'll be there. We are planning on starting with our first class of students in January 2009. Volunteer work between now and then could involve many different aspects of getting the school together, canvassing our local community, working on student selection, and arranging academic resources. I have been putting together a team of volunteers out here in California who are helping with our school; I am looking to expand that team and likely get some people with Swahili on the ground in Kenya sooner than later.

If you’re interested in volunteering on this project, contact Dan at dwpolk@gmail.com.
