New NGO for School in Maseno

Submitted by Sandy Seppala on Sat, 2005-12-17 12:52.

A new NGO, called Joining Hearts and Hands, dedicated to the self-sustainability of the children of the Mbaka Oromo Primary School in Maseno, Kenya, has been established. Its purpose is to rebuild the school, provide scholarships for students to attend beyond Standard 8 and provide health care.

Principals of Joining Hearts and Hands are William and Joanne Cala and James B. Nowak. Bill Cala is the superintendent of the Fairport Central Schools in suburban Rochester, NY, and Joanne is a counselor. James is a retired teacher who has been working closely with this Luo village in Kenya.

Great stories here and thanks. I will be featuring Dr Bill Cala's story later today on my own site and would love to have any Kenya leaders jump into the discussion on the exciting work there that we are all looking forward to. When people like you and like Bill pull together -- the rest of us are inspired to pull with you....All the best with this project!

May the Lord give us more burden to invest in the education of my brothers and sisters. I come from Maseno and I thank God for the vision he has given you.
