Difficult indeed. as a Kikuyu and a Kenyan, this book has changed my life. To realize that the British made an actual attempt to exterminate the Kikuyu through geneocide is a reality I must begin to live with. The actual number murdered were between 100,000 to 300,000, out of a population of 1.5 million at the time. The Kikuyu 50 years or so later now number 14.5 million strong, and are the most economically successful ethnic group in East Africa. Knowing our history is essential, especially because history has a tendency to repeat itself. Iraq and Afghanistan, in which Britain is heavily involved, are good examples.

Britain has been guilty of leaving discontent in just about every country it had colonized. For years in Africa and elsewhere the British policy of 'divide and rule' has left wounds that have been the cause of so many wars. After the colonial era, Britain has often supported tyrant leaders out of self interest, and has facilitated even more hardships suffering and death of millions. Now slowly, people are beginning to stop fighting each other, and are realizing just who the real enemy is.

If there ever was a rogue state in recent history, Britain is it!
