Help us to raise money to build a student dormitory
for children who are HIV/AIDS victims
The NPC Children’s Centre was established by the leadership of Christ
is the Answer Ministries in 1995 as a response to the need of the
alarmingly growing number of destitute children in the streets of
Nairobi, Kenya, many of whom had lost parents because of the HIV/AIDS
pandemic. The Centre is currently a home to 128 children. A much-needed
student dormitory was started in January 2005. However, funds were
insufficient and this is an appeal to raise funds for the completion of
the dormitory.
PLEASE, your help is urgently needed!!
For more information, or to let them know you are coming, or to send a
check if you can’t attend, contact Mary O. Nasibi.

February 26–March 4, 2007 Since 1961, more than 187,000 Americans have served in 139 host countries around the world as Peace Corps Volunteers. Each year during Peace Corps Week, this tradition of service is honored as thousands of RPCVs celebrate the Peace Corps’ anniversary by sharing stories of their host country experiences with their local community. In doing so, RPCVs continue to build bridges across cultures—bridges to friendship, cross-cultural understanding, tolerance, and ultimately, peace. (Click title for more information)
Smith Hempstone, who served as U.S. ambassador to Kenya from 1989 to
1993, died on Nov. 19 in Bethesda, Md., of complications of diabetes.
As ambassador, Mr. Hempstone became an effective, aggressively
undiplomatic critic of the country's president, Daniel arap Moi. Mr.
Hempstone and his wife, Kitty, participated in the activities of the
Friends of Kenya, continuing their interest in the people and affairs
of Kenya. The Friends of Kenya board and its members express their condolences to Kitty, their daughter and grandson. A full obituary can be found in the Washington Post.
